Join us Tuesday, November 13, 2012 when we once again meet at Mangia Ristorante in La Fiesta Square for knitting, crochet, conversation, and a little good food and wine (or soda or beer)? Bring your project and relax with beverage, dinner, or share a pizza. We’ll start at 6:00 and stay until at least 8 (they’re open until 10, so we’ll stay as long as there are people at the table). If you need a project, come a little early, or talk to me (Marianne), and I’ll open the store for you.
This weekend is Lafayette Art and Wine Festival time again. The Festival will pretty much take over downtown on the weekend of September 15-16. That means parking in the downtown area will be a pain, but thanks to the event organizers, there’ll be a shuttle back and forth between the station and the festival. So, this will be is a great weekend to take advantage of easy access to our store from BART, pet some yarn, and have a lot of fun too. If you don’t want to take BART, free parking is available in the BART station parking lot.
We’ll have a small booth at the festival, and the store itself will be open both days, with everything in the store 10% off. Purchases over $100 will get an extra 5% off. These discounts apply to everything, including our closeouts and sale yarns. We’ll also have drawings for yarny goodies for everyone who stops by the store.
If yarn isn’t enough reason to come out, consider that there’ll also be wine, beer, music, food, and lots and lots of wonderful arts and crafts. It truly is a fun, dog- and family-friendly weekend.
Want a few moments to sit and knit or spin? No problem, we’ve got fairly comfy chairs and a bench on the patio in front of the store and in our booth (well no bench there, but there’ll be chairs).

We are very fortunate to be able to once again host my favorite knitting teacher/celebrity for a workshop here in Lafayette. Cat Bordhi is the author of Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles, the book I used when it first came out to teach myself to knit socks when there was no yarn shop nearby. Since then, she has published five more books, two on Moebius knitting, and three more on unique ways of looking at sock construction. Her latest, Sweet Tomato Heel Socks, presents a technique that, once learned, makes knitting not only sock heels, but other short row projects, easier than you could ever imagine. She also includes in the class other really cool techniques that you will use over and over again. We have reserved the Arts & Sciences room at the Lafayette Library and Learning center on Saturday, July 21, 2012, for the class, but space is limited. See Classes and Events for more information.
